Not too long ago, we gave you some pieces of information about a fairly special ASUS motherboard, named ASUS PC-DL Deluxe. The card was special due to its support for dual processors thanks to Intel’s Canterwood chipset. The 875 chipset, which is its numerical designation, had never been given support for two processors before, but it had finally turned out that the chipset was capable of more than just a single CPU in its system. An early revision of ASUS PC-DL Deluxe has found its way to the testlab of GamePC.com and they’ve certainly gone over the card with a magnifying glass to see whether it’s an interesting choice for Xeon owners. It turns out to be both, depending on what the main usage of your system will be. But one thing is definite: ASUS PC-DL is a lot less expensive than regular dual motherboards for Xeon processors, and yet it performs better! For those of you interested in a Xeon-based system for a reasonable price and don’t have a need for 64-bit PCI sockets or 4 GB of memory, this appears to be an exceptional alternative. |
