Alpha launched their latest cooler in early November. A cooler based on their PAL-series, developed to be used with AMD’s new Opteron and Athlon64 processors. As of yet there has been hard to find any really high-performance coolers for the Athlon64/Opteron market, but more and more of this is arriving. When looking at the specifications given by Alpha themselves the performance seems to be very good if combined with a good fan.
PAL8150 is the name of the cooler, which also has gotten a “sister product” named U81C. Both based upon Alpha’s UBC-series. This cooler will probably interest all who are looking for a silent, high-performance system. This since it is fully passive. It was developed with rackmounted Athlon64 servers in mind, where you already have a good air-flow, but if you take this is mind and see to that the air-flow is good then this should pose no greater problem.
Both modells was shipped in small series as of late November so we will have to wait and see when we get them here in Sweden.
