ATI Radeon 9600 Preview

HardOCP published a preview of the Mobility Radeon 9600 VPU designed for notebooks. The results from the benchmarks conducted at ATI labs using Unreal Tournament 2003 are impressive. 85.7 frames per second at 1024 X 768 with 4X AA and 8AF enabled.
The Mobile Radeon 9600 is built with the 0.13 micron process, which means lower size and less power consumption for longer working and gaming hours with the laptop. There are two models of the VPU, the PRO chip that uses the new GDDR2-M and the conventional (non Pro) using conventional DDR and with a 300 to 350MHz processor clock speed. Also present in the chip are features like lossless Z-compression and colour compression have been inherited from ATI’s desktop models.
