Barcelona set to arrive for Christmas

AMD is expected to launch its first processors based on the delayed Barcelona/K10 architectures at the end of the summer, but then we’re talking mainly for the server platform. AMD has now revealed that its Kuma/Agena/Agena FX processors, the Phenom series, for the desktop market will not arrive until a quarter later, in other words at the end of 2007, probably just in time for the Christmas shopping. This probably means that us mortals will have to wait quite some time before AMD’s new processor architecture will become a commodity, especially on the desktop market.

“AMD’s Rivet makes one promise; we’ll see quad-core desktop components in 2007. “That’ll launch a little after the server part, it’ll be called Agena. You’ll see that in the Christmas line-up,” Rivet claimed.”
