It’s been talked about for long, the fusion between the composite window managers Beryl and Compiz. The two were once one, but forked and became two at an early stage. The reason was said to be an uncooperative organization behind Compiz, but the wordings were just as harsh from both camps. The dispute settled and now the two have released the first development release of Compiz Fusion (v0.5.2). The merge of Beryl and Compiz Extras has resulted in better reliability, stability and usability, and the window manager will be included with several large distributions (not stated which). The final version (0.6.0) of Compiz Fusion will be released after the release of Compiz 0.6.0.
