Biostar P4M890-M7 PCI-E is truly a candidate for the title of the cheapest Core 2 Duo motherboard on the market. To be honest it seems like Biostar’s latest creation is pretty much unchallenged for the title. The new LGA 775 motherboard is intended for enthusiasts and with that we assume they are aiming for the Core 2 Duo support. The board is based on VIA’s P4M890 chipset, so this circuit does sport both Core 2 Duo and its 1066MHz processor bus. The motherboard also has an integrated graphics circuit in the form of VIA UniChrome Pro, but for those who want more graphical power there is a PCIe x16 slot, just as the name implies.

The remaining features are hardly astonishing but there is support for up to 4GB DDR2-SDRAM at 533MHz, 100Mbit Ethernet, 6 channel sound and a bunch of USB2.0 ports. The motherboard is built according to the Micro-ATX standard and is thus a good choice for people who want a smaller system. But the really great thing about the board is the price, which according to DigiTimes will be about 55 dollar. It doesn’t get much cheaper than that and it even makes ECS NFORCE 570 SLIT-A ver 5.1 seem expensive in comparison.
