The new single-chip solution for Intel’s Clarkdale platform doesn’t just make it more energy efficient but also makes it smaller now that the northbridge has moved inside the processor. Biostar is one of many companies that has used this and now launched TH55B HD, which is a microATX motherboard supporting Intel’s new Core i3 and Core i5 processors.
The motherboard sports Intel’s H55 chipset, which means everything from four DDR3-2000 memory slots to a variety of USB 2.0 and SATA 3.0 ports. There is of course plenty of video outputs to make use of the integrated graphics circuit.
Biostar TH55B ships with HDMI, DVI and D-Sub outputs and with a black circuit board it is geared toward the home entertainment system. The board also sports 5-phase X.D.C power supply that together with power and reset button directly on the board makes it a decent overclocking candidate.
The board also boasts Biostar’s Game Boost technology that can be used for overclocking the integrated GPU. The company showed who you can easily overclock the graphics circuit of Clarkdale to 1200MHz (from 733MHz), which resulted in 60 percent higher score in 3DMark06.
We are still waiting for more information on the price and availability.
