Comparison of 10k rpm harddrives

Tech-Report compared Maxtor’s Atlas 10K IV, Seagate’s Cheetah 10K.6, and Western Digital’s Raptor WD360GD. Both Maxtor’s and Seagate’s drives use the SCSI interface, whilst Western Digital uses the SATA interface. They were compared to SATAT 7200 rpm drives, and a raid 0 array of IDE drives. And they found out:


“At the end of the day, I’m going to give Seagate’s Cheetah 10K.6 our Editor’s Choice award for 10K SCSI drives. And, because it’s such a unique drive and impressive performer, Western Digital’s Raptor WD360GD also gets an Editor’s Choice nod for Serial ATA.”
