MSI har tagit AMDs senaste 890GX styrkrets och tryckt in plattformen i en smidig micro-ATX formfaktor. Resultatet är ett HTPC-anpassat moderkort som med integrerad GPU, stöd för Phenom II-processorer och en HDMI-utgång går att använda till allt från musikuppspelning till högupplöst video. MSI 890GXM-G65 kommer även med stöd för SATA 6Gbps och USB 3.0 vilket gör kortet framtidssäkert. Priset ligger på runt 1200 svenska kronor och kortet finns listat i flera svenska butiker redan idag.

Man skickar väl ändå ljudet digitalt till en receiver/dekoder, som tar hand om det. Eller vill du avkoda det direkt i HTPC:n och köra analogt (mer brus etc) en extra sträcka?
(eller har jag missat något?)

Ja, du har missat något som kallas för Protected Audio Path 😎 Vilket krävs för bitstreaming av HD-formaten.
Och det krävs att hårdvaran samt mjukvaran stödjer detta. I början var det endast Asus som kunde göra detta med sina HDAV kort, men nu kan ATI göra det med HD5*** serien, Intel med sin i3 och Auzentech med sitt hdmi-ljudkort.
Mjukvara som krävs är Arcsoft TMT3 alternativt PDVD9. Även ffdshow kan bitstreama hyfsat i dagsläget i kombination med ex MPC HC, men det är inte direkt vad jag skulle vilja kalla plug n play med Blurays ex.

Som bran säger är det inget kort för dem som kör Blu-ray med losless ljudformat. Då får man putta in ett extra ljud/grafikkort för att lösa det, vilket ju förtar vitsen lite.
Många klarar sig nog utan/har inte uppgraderat till DTS-HD och DD TrueHD men för dem som har är det onekligen något man måste vara medveten om.
Tekniknörd som gillar att träna.
