Gigabyte 8VT880P Combo is the name of the mainboard VIA and Gigabyte has developed together with focus on upgrading capability. As we reported yesterday, the mainboard utilizes a chipset which supports both DDR1 and DDR2-memory. So you can run whichever memory type you would prefer, by using an adapter. In opposition to what we thought, the board also has support for both AGP and PCI-Express videocards which provide extra stars in the upgrade grades. At Viper Lair they’ve tested 8VT880P Combo and the mainboard is undoubtedly a great choice considering the upgrade capabilities, but unfortunately there are some downsides as performance and overclocking potential.
