Intel is evidently moving on nicely with the transition from 65nm to 45nm as it has now confirmed the previous rumors that claimed that Intel had working samples of the Penryn core. Intel’s VP Paul Otellini has now confirmed that it indeed has working samples of Penryn in its labs, samples which have been used to boot four different operating systems. Even if Intel seems to be ahead of plans it has chosen not to comment on the speculations on a possibly sped up launch of the 45nm processors. On the other hand Intel revealed that it is planning to start manufacturing processors during the second half of 2007, while it is also aiming to have three 300mm 45nm factories running in 2008.
