Back in September we reported about Intel plans for a new enthusiast chipset called X48. The new chip is suppose to be an updated version of the still pretty rare Intel X38 chipset. The X48 circuit is more or less cherry-picked X38 chipsets with the best overclocking capabilities and the added support for 1,600 MHz FSB and DDR3. The X48 chipset will also resolve the EIST bug available in X38. When the first Intel-made X48 motherboards appears during the first quarter of 2008 they will be called DX48BT or DX38BT2.
