Intel was planning to launch three new 45nm quad-core processors next month, this to put some further pressure on AMD and strengthen its position on the market. Well, apparently Intel has revised its launch schedule based on the current situation over at AMD. AMD has some major issues with its Phenom series, which are not only hard to come by, but also suffers from a quite serious performance-crippling bug in the current stepping. Intel has little to fear from AMD at the moment and according to sources at motherboard manufacturers, Intel has decided to postpone the launch of its three 45nm processors to February or March.
The three models, Core 2 Quad Q9300, Q9450 and Q9550 would probably cause problems more problems for Intel than for AMD, as AMD has no direct competition today and Intel is only risking its own sales of the current 65nm lineup.
