Nehalem will be Intel’s second 45nm architecture, but the first one to sport a “genuine” quad-core processor. Today’s Kentsfield and tomorrow’s Penryn are two dual-cores put together, while Nehalem and its dektop sibling Bloomfield will be native quad-cores. According to recent information published by VR-Zone it seems that the development of these are going just fine as Intel has revealed that Nehalem is slated for a launch during the second half of 2008. Bloomfield will most likely arrive a quarter later than its server sibling.

According to the same roadmap seen by VR-Zone, Intel is serving up some new names, or rather suffixes for its coming processors. They will be named as according to what kind of system they are intended for. For example, Nehalem-EN equals Entry, the low-end 1-2 socket servers, EX is short for Expandable, the RAS 2-32 socket systems, up to MC (Mission Critical) for RAS 2-512 sockets.
