Intel and AMD has been raging a big price war for the last couple of months. AMD has been the one pushing the most, with Intel following closely. The difference has been that Intel has used its older Pentium processors to fight AMD’s current Athlon generation. This has cost AMD a lot more than it has cost Intel and now that TechReport has taken a look at the performance, price and power consumption of both manufacturers’ processors there isn’t much that makes one feel better about AMD’s already stumbling economy. It turns out that Intel offers both better performance/price but also a better performance/watt ratio, and then we haven’t even considered the overclocking potential.
