Analysts at iSuppli have like so many others decided to check out the new iPhone, but unlike most people they didn’t stop at the exterior and the functions. iSuppli has, as usual, dissected Apple’s new mobile phone to see what components are hiding on the inside. The result of this investigation is a survey hat shows how much the iPhone costs to make. The 8GB version costs 599 USD in stores, but the total manufacturing costs is more like 265 USD according to iSuppli. This means that Apple has a margin of 55%, but do remember that this is only the component costs. iSuppli has not included licenses, logistics, advertising and other more “illusive” costs.
Once again it’s obvious who is the master of margins, Apple has managed to build another product that appeals to the masses yet with cost-efficient hardware.
