Denmark was first and it was coming in Italy. Irish ISP Eircom has now started blocking bit torrent websites. The first to go was of course the Sweden-based and the world’s biggest torrent site, The Pirate Bay. The company behind the blockade is The Irish Recorded Music Association (Irma) that has convinced Eircom with threats of legal measures. It has also sent similar letters of conviction to other Irish internet service providers to make them fall in line. It’s a pretty disturbing development where more and more parts of the Internet are getting censored, here in the so-called Western World.
