Just after our second CeBIT-articel, which contained much information about mini-PCs, and chassies, this information came up. The information is from IWILL’s swedish distributor MicroTech Nordic, so we know for sure that the information is correct.
IWILL ZPC, as the new mini-PC is called, will be released April 1st, and it surely lives up to the name “mini-PC”. With its 4.4cm height, other SFF-barebones look very big in comparison. Such a small format (44 mm (H), 157 mm (W), 250 mm (D)), of course brings some limitations in component choices, but not so much as you might think. The i845G-based motherboard has support for Pentium 4-processors up to 2.53GHz and PC2100 DDR-SDRAM. The motherboard’s intergrated graphic-circuit handles the graphic part which is the systems biggest disadvantage, but this is not built as a gamers platform which most people would understand. To keep the minimalistic measures, the system is equipped with a slim-type model of optical unit, and a 2.5″ harddrive which comes in laptops.
With its exterior measure and a weight of 2.5 Kg, it’s a God’s gift to the minimalist which we hope to see more of when it hits the market.
