MSI K8N Diamond Plus seems to become the first motherboard utilizing integrated Soundblaster Audigy2 circuitry for sound-handling. This is something we’ve earlier heard rumours about and now there’s official information about MSI’s mainboard. The sound chipset is based on Audigy2 but is named Audigy SE and should be a vast improvement since Creative’s earlier integrated sound chipset, based on the Live-architecture. The motherboard itself is based on NVIDIA’s new nForce 4 SLI x16 chipset and supports AMD’s K8-CPU’s. This is the first mainboard with integrated Audigy-chipset, but quite surely not the last. If it’s the beginning to the end of the external soundcards is doubtful, but it clearly gives us consumers more choices.
