MSI ships it HDCP-capable GeForce 7 graphics cards

ATI’s partners has just started gain momentum and announced a number of HDCP-capable graphics cards. NVIDIA is in turn expected to launch its HDCP models of its GeForce 7 graphics cards in about a month and now it seems that the first cards are actually already here. We’ve reported about MSI displaying HDCP-capable GeForce 7 cards at Computex, in the form of a GeForce 7900GT and a 7600GT. Now MSI has officially launched these two cards as the first HDCP-capable graphics cards on the market. Not counting the GeForce 7950GX2, these are the two first HDCP-capable GeForce 7-based cards to hit the market.




HDCP Ready
MSI NX7900GT VT2D256E-HD and MSI NX7600GT VT2D256E-HD are the World’s first HDCP Ready graphics cards. HDCP is a content protection specification to protect digital entertainment content across the DVI/HDMI interface. The HDCP provides a robust, cost-effective and transparent method for transmitting and receiving digital entertainment similar to DVI/HDMI-compliant digital displays.”


Whether the HDCP chip is integrated into the graphics circuit or not the press release does not say, but anyway, now also NVIDIA consumers will be able to buy a futureproof graphics card. Except from the HDCP support MSI’s new graphics card also sports dynamic overclocking and the following specifications:

The prices for the card varies a bit betwen stores but can be found down to $200 for the GeForce 7600GT and about $280 for the GeForce 7900GT.
