NEC has launched two new LCD monitors designed for the business market. NEC MultiSync LCD4620 and LCD4020 measures 46″ and 40″ respectively and sports a resolution at 1360×768 pixels. What makes NEC’s new monitors stand out from the crowd is the extremely high brightness. The new monitors sports up to 700 cd/m2 to make them work satisfactory in even the brightest environments. There’s no doubt that NEC has designed these monitors to be used in open environments and managed to keep the frame minimal, so it can be used with video walls or similar setups where several monitors are used to create huge video walls.
“The lateral surrounds of the new NEC MultiSync® LCD4020 are only 15.5 mm wide, and those on the NEC MultiSync® LCD4620 are just 16,5 mm wide. These narrow panel bezels have enormous practical advantages: Should you wish to install several screens next to or on top of each other (e.g. to create a video wall) your gaze will move seamlessly across the screens, without getting caught on the transitions created by other wider surrounds.”
The monitors have a contrast ratio at 1,200:1 and a response time at 8ms (GtG). They also have a series of inputs ranging from HDMI, DVI to VGA and Component.
Even if NEC’s new monitors aren’t exactly for the regular Joe we’re looking forward to seeing more monitors like these, with a very narrow a lateral surround, on the consumer market as there are quire a lot of people using multiple monitors.
