Optimus is the name of the keyboard that became a celebrity over night. Optimus was and still is just a design concept, but quite an impressive one. The keyboards buttons are all small OLED displays which makes it possible to edit the message and looks in any way you like. This makes it possible to tweak the keyboard in anyway you like to fit the specific application you are using at the moment. Optimus is now expected to arrive at the end 2006, but within a month you can invest in what could be called its offspring, Optimus mini. Optimus mini is a keyboard, or more precise a set of key, three to be precise. The three buttons has an OLED display at 96x96px each that can display up to 5 images per second.
Optimus mini can be programmed any way you like and automatically recognize the software you are using. Everything from hotkeys to saving with games to animations. Optimus mini can be preordered until April 2 at the neat cost of $100, after this date the price will rise according to Art Lebedev until the launch date May 15.
Optimus mini looks to be a real high class product but this do cause some concern regarding the price of the full size keyboard Optimus. As the mini model with only three buttons costs $100 we don’t even dare to venture a guess what over 100 keys would cost.
