Art Lebedev became world famous over a night after unveiling the concept keyboard Optimus Maximus. Optimus Maximus was something new and quite spectacular. Every key had an OLED inside which could be programmed to display whatever the user wanted. After many, many delays the Optimus Maximus keyboard was actually launched, contrary to many’s beliefs, but at a much higher price than first expected; $1,564 USD. Now that Art Lebedev has announced the successor, it has taken things one step further. Optimus Tactus is a keyboard consisting of a single, huge programmable display.
No physical keys. No restrictions in size or the size of the individual keys, or function for that matter.
And if you get tired of using it as a keyboard you can always switch to video mode. Here seen with one of TATU’s famous videos:
This is of course just a concept, just like the Maximus was when it was first unveiled to the world, but if we’re lucky this one might also make it to market .. in 2010 or something like that.
