The Danish company Chip-con has during the week changed its name to nVENTIV, however the company itself remains the same. Its processor cooler Mach II is still the most powerful one available, at least on the commercial market.
At Ace’s hardware, they have done a very interesting article, utilizing this cooler with a Athlon 64 FX-51. The FX-51 comes at 2.2GHz by default, but they have clocked it to a rather eye-catching 2.8GHz while maintaining full stability.
We hardly need to point out that the performance is very impressive, but what is perhaps even more interesting is their calculations when it comes to the increase in performance related to the processor’s clock frequency.
As some has predicted, the integrated memory controller on the Athlon64 seems to be more and more effective the higher clocked it gets, which is definitely something positive for AMD.
We are waiting eagerly on higher clocked Athlon64/FX’s and we are also keeping a keen eye on Intel’s reactions.
If you want to se performance that is out of the ordinary, then it’s best if you read the whole review, found at Ace’s Hardware.
