Many of us were rather surprised when we saw the test system that was used in Anandtech’s review of the ATi Radeon 9800XT. What surprised was that the processor used was claimed to be an Intel Pentium 4 Prescott at 2.8GHz. Prescott is not supposed to have any information posted until early December, and thus this caused quite a stir.
It all took a new turn when Anandtech deleted the “Prescott” from the test information. At least one believed this until one for the fun of it marked the text and noticed that the “Prescott” part was still there but now in white text, which would delude most people.
It didn’t take long until this was discovered and at TheInquirer they have secured the evidence with two screendumps.
The question is now why the review was suddenly altered in this way. It has taken a rather humoristic turn though, and we belive an answer will be released within the next few days.
