The new PDA WORKABOUT PRO from Psion Teklogix is a bit different from other PDAs as the manufacturer has chosen to build a durable unit that can be used as both a PDA and a mobile phone. As with most durable devices the design isn’t the most appealing, but then most PDA can’t handle a 1.5 drop on to solid concrete, which also being water resistant. WORKABOUT PRO is hardly something for the yuppie, but more for the construction or logistics worker, where the environment and weather is a lot harsher. The PDA uses Microsoft’s Embedded CE 5.0, but can also be configured with Windows CE 5.0 or Windows Mobile 6.
WORKABOUT PRO supports loads of expansion modules like scanners, WLAN, bar code readers and such, but the mobile phone feature is integrated into the device, which improves the functionality significantly.
