QuadFX was one of the saddest product launches we’ve ever had to experience, and it seems that AMD has realized that the Quad-FX maybe wasn’t such a great idea after all. The platform has been anything but luster in the sales and the promised quad-core upgrade with the recent launch of Phenom has been lacking, mainly due to the perhaps not so impressive performance of current Phenom lineup. TechReport decided to give AMD a call and check what’s up with Quad-FX and found out that the platform is not a priority at AMD. AMD is currently focusing on the Spider platform, and if there will be any multi-socket platform further up ahead they will not be based on Phenom.
