Amazon International has managed to collect a bunch of test results from nVidia’s newly introduced Quadro FX 3000. Just as expected, the card isn’t exactly much faster than the old Quadro FX 2000. In fact, one test even proves it to be slower.
Instead, the big news is Quadro FX 3000G that offers frame and gen lock, which until now was something that only the more expensive cards from e.g. 3D Labs could offer. With this technology, it’s possible to connect several computer’s graphics cards in a series to allow them to jointly render one single scene.
There’s no doubt that the Quadro FX 3000G fulfils its niche, but what the Quadro FX 3000 graphics card is good for is so far hard to say. Perhaps it was easier to simply discontinue the manufacturing of the NV30 chips completely.
