AMD/ATI is in the middle of completing its coming graphics circuit R600 and after NVIDIA’s success with the G80 architecture it has become a very important graphics circuit. R600 looks to become one of the most advanced graphics circuits so far and, alas, this also mean that it will have an unusually high power consumption and heat dissipation, something we’ve reported about at numerous occasions. Just as NVIDIA, AMD/ATI has tested a range of coolers for keeping the card at good temperatures even during load and even performed tests with a hybrid cooler using both air and water to remove the heat. The plans for a hybrid cooler has been put on ice though as AMD has decided to go with a beefy air cooler instead. The cooler is said to be a real beast in size, but luckily also be as quiet as NVIDIA’s G80 graphics card cooler.
