AMD‘s R600 graphics circuit is getting closer and at the end of the month we will all know if wait was worth it and if the eagerly awaited Radeon series will be able to stand up to the competition. The launch has been postponed a number of times and when AMD decided to delay the launch until after CeBIT many were suspecting that this was because of a transition to a new and more efficient 65nm manufacturing process. Vijay Sharma, Director of Desktop Discrete Product Marketing at AMD, has announced that this is not the case. R600 will be made with a 80nm process and in an interview with a German hardware site Sharma has revealed some of the advantages with the new 80nm process. It seems there will not be a 65nm suit for R600 after all and how this will affect the success of the circuit remains to be seen.
