We continue with the DirectX 9 theme with war simulator ARMA2 that has a good reputation of bringing most PCs to it knees and compared to previous tests this is by far not an understatement. From 100 fps+ we are down to below 50 fps with all cards, which is the first so far. Radeon HD 5870 is in the lead as usual along with NVIDIA’s GeForce GTX 295 right behind and just above 40 fps. The remaining cards have to struggle harder and the worst is Radeon HD 4870X2 that fails completely, which is most likely due to CrossFire issues.

War games may be fine and all but here we have World in Conflict that demands both strategy and power. With our current chart system we can only show the average fps and here we see that the dual-GPU cards with large memory buffers do well but also that NVIDIA is the stronger camp. 5870 puts up a good fight against the single-GPU cards and if we look at the lowest measured FPS Radeon HD 5870 wins with a good margin.

The lowest FPS registered with AMD’s new flagship at 1920×1200 resolution was 28 FPS, while GeForce GTX 295 slumped down to 19 while otherwise having the highest average FPS.
