Our man responsible for sound, Oscar, has looked closer at what’s being offered on the market of sound today, and tested two different sets of speaker from Creative.
The systems are Creative Inspire 6.1 6700 and Cambridge SoundWorks MegaWorks 5.1 550 THX. The first one is a 6.1-channel system and the latter a 5.1-channel system with a THX certificate.
Computer speakers have gone through a tremendous development over the last years, evolving from headphones/two small speakers feeding power from batteries or from the soundcard itself, to complete home cinema systems with 6 speakers or more to give us users the absolute movie/gaming experience.
That the computer has gone from being a tool for some 10 years ago, to an entertainment center today, you can clearly see in today’s offer.
The systems we test receive high marks and are in the price range of ~100$ (Creatvie Inspire 6.1 6700) and ~300$ (Cambridge SoundWorks MegaWorks 5.1 550 THX).
