Review: Intel 845PE roundup

0

Like most of you probably have noticed, Intel has begun launching new motherboard chipsets for the Pentium 4 platform. We will look closer at the new 865/875 chipsets within a short period of time, but first we have chosen to finish the week with our last review of the popular i845PE chipset.
To get as nice a finish as possible, we have gathered four different boards based on this chipset. Among these four there are also two models which are claimed to give support to the newly launched 800MHz FSB processors from Intel. Whether this is true or not is one of the things we take a look at in our review.

“It’s been a while since the chipset was launched but still the 845PE is going strong. Both Intel and SiS have launched Dual Channel DDR chipset but concerning performance the 845PE is still handling these newcomers very well. The fact that the chipset has had time to mature on the market has caused the price to decrease greatly since the lauch and 845PE based motherboards can be bought for about 100 $ these days.”
