Samsung launches close to 40 new LCD and Plasma TVs

Samsung has proven once again that it is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of both LCD and plasma TVs through its latest launch. Samsung has namely launched close to 40 new TV sets in the Nordic countries, some models are already available elsewhere. Three new series of LCD TVs and two series of Plasma TVs. All models have a built-in digital receiver. All TVs can also control other equipment connected to the TV, if they support the HDMI-CEC standard. Samsung have equipped many of the models with three HDMI inputs and have considered the criticism of the previous models and made it easier to turn the image improving technologies on and off.



Another function Samsung has integrated into its new TVs is the possibility to control the wall mount and how the TV is angled.


The three LCD TV series is topped by the M8 which is a full HDTV series, which means a resolution at 1920×1080 pixels. Support for the new technology Super Clear Panel and a dynamic contrast ratio at 15000:1. This is thanks to Samsung’s new S-PVA panel and the TV is available at 32″, 37″, 40″, 46″ and 52″. There is support for HDMI-CEC and three HDMI inputs, where one is on the side of the TV.



Samsung M8


Right below this one, Samsung has launched the R8 series and here a lot of the focus is on the design. This isn’t a completely new series, but it has been updated with a new rounder design and now has the possibility to turn of the light decorations. Three HDMI inputs, support for HDMI-CEC and available at 19″, 23″, 26″, 32″, 37″ and 40″ makes it a very broad series.



Samsung R8


The last of the LCD TV assortment is S8 and it has a minimalistic design, “only” two HDMI ports and a dynamic contrast ratio at 7000:1. This series is available at 26″, 32″, 37″ and 40″.


The two series of plasma TVs consists of Q9 where the sharper one using the Ultra FilterBright technology and C9 is the cheaper one using the Filter Bright technology. Both series have one models each at 42″ and one at 50″.



Samsung Q9


Samsung Q9 has been equipped with the Real Motion technology, which is really three technologies for reproducing color, depth and contrast in a realistic manner. The Q9 series has a dynamic contrast ratio at 15000:1, three HDMI ports and an adjustable stand.


The Samsung C9 series is the little brother to Q9 and doesn’t offer the same extent of image improving technologies for the contrast and colors, but the Real Motion technology is still there.


More models are expected to appear and all are expected to arrive in April in the Nordic countries.
