Bit-Tech has created a guide for a stunning HTPC. A fully self-made case in some kind of wooden/plastic/metal hybrid which looks very good. A graphical VFD from Matrix Orbital, a few buttons and voila: a HTPC. The structure of it is also brought into the spotlight. In addition, the company has a lot of innovative ideas to achieve that little extra touch that makes the whole difference. For example, the creator uses many smaller wooden segments on top of each other instead of one large; something I have never seen before. One will have to go through the massive amount of 20 pages to learn everything, but it is worth it if you are interested in modding. A good source of inspiration, and it can be found right here.
