What to say … I thought that I would actually feel a bit calmer today, but I can still feel some adrenalin messing with my heart rate. Overall this was a real class event by Intel with an excellent reception, lots of food and plenty to drink (accidentally wrote drunk first, might have been a Freudian slip). We had access to some very nice hardware and we’re very impressed by how well it worked. Overall the weekend feels almost unreal when I think back, we had literally a minimal amount of problems. Everything just worked.
We managed to reach scores beyond any known official score in 3DMark 06, but you have to remember that there are still several weeks to go until the launch and we’re not the only ones with great hardware.
Our friends from Denmark and Norway made some great results with both the same hardware as we and with the previous generation. It was nice to see both the E6550 and the QX6850 in extreme action too.
3DMark 06 is far from the only test we and the others ran. SuperPi 1M went completely off the scale at one point, Aquamark broke new ground, 3DMark 01 will definitely see some new scores too.
The heat of the moment certainly unlocked the superlatives, and, again, sorry for being a bit of a tease, but the purpose was most of all to share as much I could without sharing too much. I hope you understand.
“Spelling grammar” … hehe.
Last, but certainly not least, thank you for all of your e-mails and encouraging PMs. If I haven’t answered all of them yet, I will today. It’s been a weekend filled with excitement. I was literally bouncing around the lab at one point, because we were on the verge of greatness.
If you want to see Marcus “Kinc” and Robert “crotale” in action you can always drop by DreamHack Winter 2007, Nov 29 – Dec 2. I will also be there, but I will focus on doing coverage. Hope to see you there!
