nVidia has had some set-backs so far this year. FX never became the winning card we had expected it to be and nVidia has worked hard to “improve” the situation. That is: lowering quality to increase performance. But now however is the time for nVidia to strike back, this time using new device drivers named Detonator FX, which are believed to be the frequently mentioned Detonator 50.
On the list of improvements we find a 20-50 % increase of performance considering as good as all applications. The Inquirer reports this from Cannes, where nVidia has held it’s nVision show for manufacturers and system builders.
We have also gotten our hands on some reports about new device drivers through our contact at nVidia and among other stuff we have been promised a well functioning “Application mode” with approved performance and that they will have fixed the quality problems concerning 3DMark03.
Furthermore The Inquirer reports some new info about NV35. This looks quite thrilling as the specifications are even better than we had thought them to be:
NV35: 425/850MHz
NV35 Ultra: 450/900MHz
We have also received some similar information (both when it comes to device drivers and NV35) and thereby we think The Inq’s percentage of truth just might be a bit higher than usual. Bu the way things are now, this information should definitely be considered as rumours.
