Now that several of the major memory manufacturers have launched modules using quite innovative and phat cooling systems for its high-end modules, smaller memory manufacturers have also started to look for more exotic coolings to keep up with the modern trends. Team Group has chosen to launch a new memory series together with the cooling manufacturers Thermalright, where the latter was given the task of equipping the memory modules with a powerful and efficient cooling. The result was a Team Xtreem DDR2 series sporting the Thermalright HR-07 memory cooler, which is a quite massive cooling solution for RAM memory modules.
At X-bit Labs they decided to to take a closer look at the Team Xtreem series and focused on the cooling of the modules, which at first sight seems quite capable of matching the cooling from OCZ and Corsair. The memories are using Micron D9GKX and these are known for their good overclocking potential, but ironically it seems that the third-party cooling is one of the weaknesses.
