Has this week been highlighted in your calendar for many weeks? If not, then I might as well inform you, that this week is probably the one of most importance this quarter of the year, if not for the whole year, concerning desktop CPU’s anyhow. For today has been the release day of reviews of three new processors which will surely make the computer market rather different as the coming year comes closer. At one hand, we have the newly released reviews of Intels new “Extreme Edition” of their Pentium 4. Even though one might think this is something Intel has done merely to try to keep steady even though things start to get rocky, it does not come as a comeplete surprise, especially as they released a similarity on their Xeon processors not too long ago. |
What has been awaited for some time now is finally here. The testing results for the AMD Athlon64 and AthlonFX. And judging from the results of the testings, both of these processors really shows that AMD is right back into the industry as the top performance CPU manufacturer, side by side with Intels new monster. But as many has made notice of for long now, being at the top also means that the price/performance is in most cases far from what is reasonable to most people. Are you still interested in reading more about the Athlon64/FX tests, and their comparisons towards the Intel P4 3.2GHz EE (if you haven’t already), then a rather extensive list of reviews can be found at AMDBoard. |
