The ultimate workstation for gaming

0

The guys at Firingsquad seemed to be inspired, as we all are, to build a computer that would never be found in the local retail computer store. The goal was to build a workstation that would work flawlessly, even for gaming. There would be no financial restriction, yet nothing was to be bought without good reason.
Several of the components involved we are well informed of, though the price class is perhaps nothing for the regular consumer. It’s based of a dual-Opteron 246 mounted on a Tyan Thunder K8W-mainboard, giving impressive performance and stability.
Some of the more unusual products used is e.g. a very high-quality surround-sound system from Swan (T200A), Goldtouch ergonomic keyboard, Matrix Orbital MX2 LCD-display and a current leveller (!). The latter being a device used to make sure that the computer got a good current flow, without spikes and such. This was apparently something they had problems with at Firingsquad so money seemed to be well spent.

It is undeniably a very impressive project and as they have presented thorough information of each component used, it’s quite a substantial amount of reading. The unusual products used in the project makes it even more interesting, whereas for example the Swan T200A speakers doubtlessly are very interesting.
