Ultra ChillTec is not just any processor cooler and even if the design is similar to other massive air coolers there is considerably more than that to this cooler. The name namely comes from the fact that Ultra uses TEC technology, also known as peltier, for more efficient cooling. Peltiers can bring down the temperature even below room temperature and worst case scenario condensation is your biggest problem. But this doesn’t mean that ChillTec will be a problem to use in an active system for an optimized cooling. The peltier element isn’t activated until the processor reaches a certain temperature.
This means that the extra cooling only comes when it’s needed the most and this should result in a very efficient cooling of the processor. Ultra ChillTec will cost 150 USD, which is a lot of money for a processor cooler, while at the same time the massive dimensions could become a problem for some system, while weighing close to a kilo (2.2lbs.).
