Wal-Mart is the world’s largest corporation with stores all over the North American continent. Currently the company controls over 20% of the American grocery market. Wal-Mart sells more than just groceries though and cheap electronics have become somewhat of a niche for the chain. The words cheap and affordable are keys at Wal-Mart, which makes it not so surprising that it has chosen to bet on HD DVD in the raging blue laser war. HD DVD has been boosting its lower price as one of its biggest advantages and now that Wal-Mart has ordered 2 million HD DVD players from Chinese company Fuh Yuan it looks like the HD DVD camp has gained a powerful ally. The order is worth $100 million while the players will cost $299. The specifications aren’t revealed, but will most likely arrive with the player in June.
