Western Digital has received lots of favourable reviews of their 10 000 RPM Raptor HDD, but like with almost all products, the Raptor had weaknesses as well. Most important, the Raptor only shipped with a capacity of 36 GB, which was not enough for everybody. Also, the level of noise produced by the HDD wasn’t very pleasant, though not surprisingly high considering its high rotation speed.
Now WD has launched their new Raptor with a storage capacity of 74 GB and quite a few improvements over the previous model. Except for the capacity and noise level, the performance as well seems to have improved.
