Yamaha will, according to new plans, launch a wireless audio system in October this year. The system, which is known by the name MusicCast, consists of two units in its basic design; MCX-1000 and MCX-A10.
The first-mentioned unit is a digital audio server, which stores and distributes music via the wireless network. MCX-A10, on the other hand, is the sound equipment itself and acts client over the network. The unit contains a digital amplifier and can be complemented with a speaker system called MCX-SP10.
The audio server, MCX-1000, is originally gifted with a 80 GB harddrive, susceptible of 100 hours of music of CD quality or as much as 1000 hours of music in the MP3 file format.
As stated above, the system utilizes wireless networking technology (IEEE802.11b) and it’s possible to connect up to five clients to the server.
Yamaha MusicCast looks like an interesting product, especially with its wireless technology and the ability to interconnect several clients.
