This can be reality should you have the “right” friends. Microsoft is planning to pay two separate rewards of $250.000 to those who can give information which will lead to the capture of the creators of the MSBlaster worm and the SoBig virus.
Microsoft announced this together with representatives from the FBI, Secret Service and Interpol earlier this week. The rewards is a part of a $5.000.000 project to track down the individual, and or specific groups, that are creating and spreading the worst viruses on the internet.
Even if it’s very unlikely, this might lead to a sort of western age on the net, bringing to life price-hunters hunting hackers and virus-creators. According to Peter Nevitt from Interpol it is more likely that the rewards will create leaks from within the networks that usually is in some way participating in the act of creating or spreading virus’.
