There have been many months since we first heard the rumors of a Microsoft Xbox 360 with a new and refined 65 nm processor. The hot 90 nm processor from IBM would be replaced by a 65 nm revision with much lower power consumption, but despite the long wait nothing has happened. Microsoft remains quiet even today, but it seems that the first console with the new 65 nm processor, code-named Falcon, has made its first appearance. Falcon is namely the heart of the new Xbox 360 Halo 3 bundle.

Thanks to a daring user called JWSpeed we have pictures of the interior of the new console, where both the simplified cooling and the actual processor are clearly visible. The console was built on August 24 and right now we’re wondering when the regular models of Xbox 360 will be equipped with the new chip and cooling. Anyhow, this should result in a cooler, and actually cheaper (although we seriously doubt MS will cut prices) video game console.
