Amoi Electronics and Sichuan Changhong Electric are two of the leading actors on the Chinese DVD-player market and now both of them has chosen to support HD DVD as its next DVD-format. The reason they have picked HD DVD over Blu-ray is the most likely the lower production costs which HD DVD brings. Through its close relatin to the current DVD-format it is both easier and cheaper to add support for the new format with today’s DVD-player. At the same time it believes HD DVD will be supported by most media manufacturers since the costs will be lower.
