Although netbooks using the Android platform isn’t news, the companies supporting idea have been rather small. The concept of Android-based netbooks has moved to a whole new level now that software developer Bsquare revealed that the one and only Dell is planning a netbook with the Android platform. Bsquare, a mobile software developer, issued a press release with the following title;

“Bsquare to Port Adobe Flash Lite on New Google Android Netbook for Dell”

The press release was quickly withdrawn from Market Wire for some reason where it was published even containing the name of Dell’s claimed Android netbook.

“Industry analysts also predict that Android will gain traction on smart devices, such as the ultra-portable Dell Mini Inspiron 910, which are used in a range of industries.”

In other words we’re dealing with a 8.9″ model that could be price pressured further since it uses the free and Google supported Android operating system.

Even if nothing has been confirmed it does look like Dell is serious with its interest in Android and Chinese Skytone looks to be getting some big and serious competition for its Alpha 680 ARM netbook soon.
