Intel is in a quite pleasant seat at the moment as the manufacturer’s new Core architecture have taken over as the dominating processor architecture on the PC market. But as all companies, not the least Intel, things can change swiftly, especially if you start taking things for granted. AMD may be left behind at the moment, but it will hardly give up that easily and during the second half of next year there will arrive some very interesting processors from AMD that may very well be able to compete with Intel’s Core architecture. This is something Intel has taken advantage of and is now preparing for how to keep its position on the market. According to HKEPC one of the plans is the well tested “lower the prices as much as possible.”

Intel namely has long gone plans for a broad and heavy duty price cut for its Core 2 Duo family of processors. According to the information HKEPC has published there will be up to 40% cuts in some cases. The price cuts are expected to happen during the second quarter of 2007 in due time before AMD’s launch of its Agenda and Kuma processor architectures. Below you will find a complete list of the affected processors and to what degree they are affected.
