LiteOn is one of the few companies that chosen to stay neutral in the battle of the next generation optical media format, also known as Blu-ray vs HD DVD. It is one of the biggest companies in the world for optical media and has earlier tried to develop players that would sport both formats, without much luck. Now LiteOn is instead going for producing HD DVD burners in March, 2007. This should mean a launch during the fall or at least winter and hopefully the price will have dropped at least somewhat ’til then, or at best a decision of what format will be the standard.
